Animals in the Garden

August 4, 2013

Students took on a graphic designer approach to utilising ICT and had to trace an animal using MS Word. Students image searched an outline of their animal using Google images. They copied and pasted the outline into MS Word and used the free form tool to create their animal. Students are intending to sell their print to the school to raise money for the future Community Garden. Their focus was on layout and design.

Part 2 of this project was to get students writing about themselves in a special edition catalogue, that was sent home to parents. Students collaborated using Google Docs, writing about themselves, inserting their animal print and assigning their work an ‘artist code’. It took the children a while to get used to the idea of Google Docs. Thank goodness for the revision history functionality!
